Summer 2020 Data and Research Internship 

Research and data interns play an integral part of Eshhad’s work, gaining hands-on research and writing experiences on legal, policy, and advocacy issues relating to ethnic and religious sectarianism in the Middle East. Eshhad is currently seeking to fill two internships during summer 2020.

Duties:

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Assist in gathering, selecting, and analyzing sectarian incidents in the Middle East;

  • Research and write briefs and memoranda on research and policy Eshhad’s research and policy work;

  • Monitor sources of information on countries and issues of concern to Eshhad; and collect, organize and analyze relevant information; and

  • Provide additional support to Eshhad staff on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current or recently completed undergraduate or graduate degrees;

  • Ability to work and report to a remote supervisor;

  • A demonstrated knowledge of the Middle East, ideally with a focus on religious, belief, or ethnic freedoms;

  • Ability to research and occasionally write in Arabic (fluency desired);

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills and great attention to detail;

  • Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills; and

  • Data collection and coding experience desired.

Applicants may be current (or recently completed) undergraduate or graduate students and have a well-established interest in the research and policy in the Middle East.

This internship is unpaid but under certain circumstances may be offered for credit with your academic institution. Remote work is required for this position.
